The Evered House is an artist residency located in Flamingo Heights, CA, near the world renowned Joshua Tree National Park. The house and program were founded by writer/director Charles Evered. Charles served as a Lieutenant in the US Navy Reserve. The Evered House was established in honor of his father, Charles J. Evered, (1918-1979), who was a veteran of World War II, Army Air Corps. John O’Hara Evered, (Charles J. Evered’s grandson), served as a US Naval Sea Cadet, and Margaret Evered, (Charles J. Evered’s granddaughter), has served as a Junior Member of the Princeton, New Jersey Fire Department, rounding out three generations of service.

We offer month long residencies during October, March and April, for those who have important and relevant projects to create--- and to do so in an environment that will relieve them of the day to day practical struggles most artists face.
The Evered House is a single level three bedroom ranch house set on two acres in the hi-desert. Residents will have the house to themselves. There is a bedroom, full kitchen, studio, living room, two bathrooms and a garage. The grounds include room to work outside under a long and covered porch area, as well as an outdoor stage and performance area.
Resident artists are encouraged to stay and work alone, but may apply to be accompanied by someone if their situation demands it. Residents are responsible for their own transportation. The house is within a couple miles of locals stores. There is public transportation available to the town of Yucca Valley, about ten miles away.
Residents stay at no costs to themselves. We offer small honorariums to help cover travel and food expenses during their stay.
We have already brought together an impressive group of successful artists and supporters that we call THE MENTOR BOARD--- that have agreed to work with the residents in their chosen field---should they request such guidance. If they want to be left alone for a month, that's fine too. The MENTOR BOARD has among its ranks, Emmy, Tony and other major award winning working artists and arts related professionals that are willing to mentor and give of their time completely free of charge.
